Tactile textures: A moodboard

Welcome to the first of a new type of blog here on spaceforthesoul.com, where I will create and share my interior design secrets within moodboards that bring together some of my most recent, and most loved, interior finds.

Each moodboard will have a unique theme, and all the unusual pieces (be they fabric samples, furniture, wallpapers, artwork, accessories or lighting) will be name-checked so that you can get inspired, and (most importantly) get shopping!

So here we go…

Who needs to go crazy with colour when you can have so much fun with textures?

One for the girls

I keep being seduced by all the gorgeous new beauty products that seem to be launching every second this spring. It seems that the likes of Chanel, Dior and Givenchy have all decided to take it upon themselves to cheer up the dreary, cold March that we are having, and sprinkle it with pastel-filled palettes, peachy blushers and rose-petal lipglosses;  delicious! You may all be wondering  how on earth this links to my interior design obsession, so here we go. ..

It started with this Givenchy palette;  isn’t it gorgeous? All those sprinkles of pastel should feel over-sweet and sickly but instead it looks like it could be hanging on the  wall of the Tate.

One of Givenchy's Instant Bucolique-collection palettes

The colour captured me so much that I went in search of the ‘interior’ equivalent and chanced upon these equally spring-like fabrics from the wonderful  Caitlin Wilson Design:

Floral but far from chintzy; pretty but never twee, I love the fresh spring colour palette

So that’s where it began, and ever since I have been scouring the beauty pages of my favourite magazines to find inspiration for some seriously sexy make-up palette-inspired interiors. Here are my top five…

Seriously sexy and decadent Givenchy perfume...

.. led me to this paired-back moody room with a decadent, gold Rococo mirror illuminating the  back wall.

Pared-back sexy with a touch of 'bling'

This paired-back, predominantly neutral Stila palette...

…led me to this mainly neutral bedroom, which is bought to life by the swoosh of that gorgeous candy-striped curtain and the bold black print above the bed.

It's the accessories that completely 'make' this room

Chanel's latest coral shade...

…helped me find this gem of a room, with it’s bold stripes, bold coral, and bold over-sized ornaments.

This unusual mixture of amber, burnt-toffee, golden and nude posed an interesting challenge...

…but led me to this gorgeous living area with its ‘chocolatey’ leather ottoman and rich brown beams, alongside the fresh nude sofa  which is injected with gold and toffee-coloured cushions; a serious ‘room recipe’ made in heaven!

Finally, these new-season Chanel lipsticks…

…led me to this fun little dining area with it’s candyfloss seating and giant blackboard wall:

I particularly love the ceiling light and artful arrangement of clock and artwork

Roll on springtime! Sx
